Shen Zi Yao 沈子尧

Incorporating elements of Western art canon such as perspective, lighting, and a judicious combination of mixed media with the classic Chinese ink medium, Chinese artist Shen Zi Yao’s works are a contemporary re-imagination of the Chinese landscape genre. With creative use of collage to redefine space and brushwork, Shen approaches the millennium-old medium with his own modern twist.

Biography +

1985 Born in Nantong, Jiangsu Province
2009 Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Chinese Ink faculty under the tutelage of Professor Yao Ming Jing, Zheng Wei, Chen Ping, Qiu Ting and Liu Rong
2014 Awarded a full scholarship, graduating with a Master’s degree from CAFA, Chinese Ink faculty under the tutelage of Professor Yao Ming Jing.
2015 Appointed as a teaching assistant at the Li Keran Academy of Painting, Beijing
