A modern interpretation of the still-life genre, Indonesian artist Taufiq.HT’s oeuvre is an invigorating take on the centuries-old Western genre of painting. With vibrant and surrealist form, the artist’s stylized interiors are a contemporary execution of a genre that for centuries, captured the social milieu and objects of its period. Framed with meticulously painted frames, the geometrical designs are a colourful interrogation of the interior and exterior world. Through Taufiq.HT’s lens is an intimate exploration of the Global South, forging the renaissance of a primarily Western genre with his voice.
Taufiq.HT is an artist born in Mojokerto, East Java. Has a tendency to process imaginary images inspired by childhood memories of having a penchant for observing the shapes in torso tiles on floor of the house, but then developing following the ideas that want to make as a theme of workmanship, and may continue to develop dynamically according to needs.
