Tan Choh Tee 陈楚智

Born in 1942 in Swatou, China. Tan Choh Tee graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Singapore in 1962, and was engaged as a lecturer by his alma mater from 1984 – 1987. Tan was accepted as Research Fellow at the Beijing Central Institute of Fine Arts, majoring in oil painting in 1987. The year after, he was admitted to the French Artist’s Colony-Cite Internationale des Art to conduct study tours of major museum in Paris. He was recognized for his works at the recent Asia Invitation Arts Exhibition held in Seoul (2006) and is the recipient of the Singapore Cultural Medallion. Tan’s paintings depict the South East Asia landscapes and its folk activities. His unique individual style is reflected in his stokes, colours and lights.
