White Space Art Asia presents Contemporary Old, an exhibition showcasing the works of four contemporary artists who challenge, subvert yet embody the ‘conventions’ of Chinese art.
From 1 January to 29 February 2020, Shen Zi Yao, Huang Hong Tao, Zheng Yuan Wu and Liu Ruo Wang will present their works through mediums of Chinese ink paintings, mixed media and bronze sculptures. A disparate blend of aesthetics and artistic expressions that are inexorably bounded by their common purpose to explore similar and overlapping themes that reflect the changing landscape of Chinese art.
The works from this exhibition invite us to re-examine what we understand of Chinese art history and its known constants.
